We do think the fight against otiorhyncus is not only chemical.
Every container from a nursery should be quarantined. An old tyre half in the soil and of which the walls are full of water becomes an insurmontable fence.Watch the level of the water.
In order to make moving of the larvae more difficult take off the more possible of the medium of the container, see file #3.
At last, avoid mulch which provides all kind of hiding places and places to lay their eggs. The upper part of the root ball must be dry so that the minimum of eggs hatch. A tough soil obstructs moving of the larvae as well. See file #4.
If the chimical fight is imperative :
- against adults : ORTHENE or ? (see at your garden center)
- against larvae : CURATER G1 (Bayer) or PSILATOX (Fertiligene).
Put the granules at the planting.
