This shows the use of factory enameled aluminum roof flashing (0.012"
thick) as a tag upon which the TZ tape labels from a Brother machine can be
mounted. The flashing was cut into strips of appropriate width using a
swing arm type paper cutter; the strips were then cut to shorter lengths and
a hole punched with the punch shown laying next to the Roovers embosser.
The labels are loosely affixed to the plant or to a stake. The wire shown
on the tags is from a multi-strand copper telephone cable; use of a heavier
copper wire would likely present a lower risk of becoming grown into the
stem. The stakes are made from high tensile strength electric fence wire;
it is quite stiff and not easy to bend. A jig was used to easily make the
paper-clip like circular end. The hand bent stake top has a Roovers label.
A hand held Brother P-touch label maker is shown. This particular label
maker will not interface with a computer but it is quite portable.
