When we cut the unwell twig we recognize the infected parts by their brownish color.
To recapitulate : the fungus comes from the top and goes to the bottom.
The solution asserts itself : let us cut it away. Indeed, it is enough to cut the unwell twig at a healthy part, that is to say showing a white wood.
The rhododendron will be saved at the cost of an amputation particularly smaller if you would diagnose the disease early.
In fact there are other diseases called stem dieback :
- BOTRYOSPHAERIA DIEBACK
- PHOMOPSIS DIEBACK.
The symptoms are very alike but the counter stays the same.
