The June Beetle's larva has, in common with the one of the otiorhyncus, the helmeted head, the whitish color of the body and the mandibles. The comparison stops there.
This larva is monstrous : it can reach 3 centimeters long and its strong mandibles can cut a match.
Moreover it has legs that make it more movable.
Three or four larvae are enough to kill a rhododendron with a 4 gallon root ball.
The chemical fight is difficult for this larva can bury itself to 1 meter depth. It seems their number has been increasing in South Brittany for a few years.
