The grafting in summer.

After having selected a stock of the same diameter as the scion, (this is a cutting 1 year old) cut it to about 1 inch above the soil.
Little by little give to this stock an inverted V shape of about 1 inch.
Cunningham's White is a good stock for a middle size rhododendron; White Pearl for a large size and Golden Gate for a little size.
If you are a "purist" you have to sow hand pollinated seeds of the rhododendron you want and when the diameter of the seedling is large enough you graft the selected clone on to this seedling.
